ABOUT DENITA:
“Though the race is not given to the swift nor to the strong.”
Singer-songwriter and recording artist Denita Gibbs is a transformative force in contemporary Gospel music, recognized for her ability to fuse urban inspirational textures with soul-stirring melodies. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, Gibbs launched her national profile as a finalist in the Vickie Winans Rising Star Talent Search. This early milestone paved the way for a distinguished career defined by artistic integrity and spiritual depth, beginning with her debut album Worthy in 2004 and reaching a commercial peak with her 2014 Billboard-charting release Without You, which secured the No. 14 spot on the Gospel Album chart.
Throughout her tenure in the industry, Gibbs has garnered significant critical acclaim and prestigious accolades. She was named the 2014 Alabama People’s Choice Female Vocalist of the Year and earned a finalist position as a Top 3 Songwriter at the 2018 Gospel Music Association Immerse Conference. Her professional reach extends to Grammy consideration for the hit single Keep Holding On and a powerful collaboration on the anthem New Name Written Down in Glory with People & Songs—Emerging Sounds. Her versatility was further demonstrated by her successful venture into Christian rock with the single Better Believe It and her consistent chart presence with releases such as He’s Way Ahead of You. In 2023, she was honored as the Bama Female Gospel Artist of the Year at the 9th Annual Alabama Music Awards, and in 2025, she received the distinguished BMI Christian Award for New Name Written Down in Glory.
Operating under her independent label, DMG Entertainment, Gibbs remains a prolific creator and a dedicated minister of song. Her recent output includes the July 2024 single Rest, produced by the award-winning Stan Jones, and the Holiday release He Is Here. Beyond her studio achievements, her foundation is rooted in decades of leadership as a Praise and Worship leader, a journey that began under the late Bishop Heron Johnson at Faith Apostolic Church (PAW, Inc) in Birmingham, AL and continued at New Seasons Church. Currently, a member of Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church (PAW, Inc) in Nashville, TN under Bishop Sherman Merritt, she views worship as a holistic lifestyle. Driven by the support of her family and mentors, Denita Gibbs continues to impact the global Gospel landscape by ministering to hearts through music that is as spiritually resonant as it is professionally masterful.
